We’re excited to announce the launch of Advanced Ads 2.0! Get ready for an all-new, improved experience built on user feedback and innovative technologies. Our team of developers has spent much of 2024 on this huge release. You’ll see that several features requested by users have been implemented, along with a wealth of other improvements and mindful changes.
Crucial updates across all add-ons
Before we dive into the exquisite features, we need to go over the update routine.
Since version 2.0 of Advanced Ads is not compatible with older versions of our add-ons, including Advanced Ads Pro, updating only Advanced Ads to 2.0 without updating the other modules will automatically disable these plugins to ensure the stability of your site. In addition, those deactivated modules can’t be updated automatically and must be replaced manually.
Recommended update approach
We strongly recommend sticking to the following chronological order for the updates to avoid extra work:
- If you have a routine set up for it, make a backup of your site.
- Update all Advanced Ads premium add-ons, namely:
- Since they’re incompatible with your current 1.x version of the base plugin, the premium add-ons will deactivate automatically. Don’t worry, we’ll reactivate them shortly.
- Run the 2.x update for the Advanced Ads base plugin.
- Reactivate all Advanced Ads premium add-ons.
Alternative update approach
Follow these steps if you’ve applied the 2.x update to the Advanced Ads base plugin before updating the premium add-ons:
- Go to your account page and download the files of those Advanced Ads add-ons that you want to update on your website.
- Navigate to your website’s backend to install and activate these add-ons manually.
If the add-ons can’t be updated
If you are unable to update the Advanced Ads add-ons for any reason, you will find a rollback link to reverse the 2.0 update for the Advanced Ads base plugin under Advanced Ads > Tools > Version Control and jump back to the previous version that will be compatible with your installed add-on versions.
Renew your license to stay ahead with continuous updates and support
As explained, solving this issue is straightforward—bring all your add-ons up-to-date before you update the base plugin. When Advanced Ads 2.0 was released, all compatible add-on updates became available, too. There’ll be no downtime if you run them all at once, in the described order.
Please keep in mind that you need to have each add-on’s license activated on your site for the automatic update process to work. Why don’t you check your license’s status in your backend under Advanced Ads > Settings > Licenses right now?
If you see that your license has expired, it’s time to renew! By doing so, you’ll access updated, heavily improved versions of all add-ons, receive regular updates ensuring WordPress compatibility, and enjoy priority email support!
You can conveniently renew your licenses within your account. Renew now!

Have a glimpse of exciting new features
With the release of Advanced Ads 2.0, we’re taking significant strides forward. We’ve optimized much of the old code, introduced new structures, and implemented more efficient coding practices. This results in faster performance, superior stability, and fewer errors than previous versions.
Remember, the core structure of the plugin resides in the free version. As all of our plugins rely on this core structure, they must be updated in line with these changes to ensure compatibility.
Now let’s dive into the thrilling new features and improvements that will significantly enhance your advertising experience.
New features and improvements in detail
Ad Blocker Suite
The new ad blocker suite in Advanced Ads 2.0 consolidates all ad-blocker-related tools into a new settings tab, making it easier than ever to manage and mitigate the impact of ad blockers.
Key features include:
- A technical fix for ad blockers
- An ad block counter
- Fallback items (such as ads or ad groups) for users with ad blockers enabled
- NEW Overlays
- NEW Redirecting users who block ads.
We designed these tools to help you safeguard your ad revenue and minimize disruptions caused by ad-blocking software. While the free plugin includes some of the features, advanced functionalities are only available through Advanced Ads Pro.
Expanded placement functions
Advanced Ads 2.0 introduces expanded placement functions that users have long requested. For example, you can now rename placements, a feature previously unavailable due to technical limitations. Advanced Ads Pro also lets you duplicate existing placements, just like the duplicate feature for ads, enabling faster workflows. Additionally, you can set placements to draft status, allowing you to keep unused placements without deleting them.
There is also a bulk edit option on the placement page now.
Fallbacks for unfilled AdSense ads
Empty ad spaces are wasted revenue opportunities, but Advanced Ads Pro now lets you make the most of them. With the new fallback ad feature, you can automatically replace unfilled AdSense ads with alternative content, ensuring your ad slots always generate value.
Whether AdSense delays filling a slot, struggles to find ads for highly specific content, or faces crawling issues, this feature keeps your ad setup dynamic and effective. You can set up a fallback ad or an entire ad group, giving you full control over what appears when AdSense leaves a gap.
Quick and bulk edit
The new update significantly enhances the Quick and Bulk Edit options in Advanced Ads 2.0. You can now make changes to multiple ads at once for the following properties:
- Author
- Status
- Debug mode
- Expiry date
- Ignore privacy settings
- Ad label
- Tracking settings
- Target URL
- Link cloaking
- Target window
- Add “nofollow”
- Add “sponsored”
- Report recipient
These improvements save you time when adjusting your ad setup, such as switching all link attributes from nofollow to sponsored or customizing privacy settings for multiple ads.
Another enhancement is the option to bulk-edit post and page settings to turn off ads entirely or within the content area.
Hide ads from IP addresses
Advanced Ads 2.0 introduces the option to hide ads from specific IP addresses, giving you more control over ad visibility. This feature is located in the Disable Ads section of the general settings and lets you exclude all ads for defined IP addresses.
If you need more granular control and hide just certain ads from an IP address, the new ‘User IP Address’ Visitor Condition for ads and placements is just the thing for you.
Improved filtering options
Advanced Ads 2.0 makes ad management easier with improved filtering options on the ad list page.
You can now filter ads by:
- Debug mode
- Privacy
- Display only once
Additionally, new columns allow you to quickly sort ads by:
- AdSense ID
- Impressions
- Clicks
- CTR
Ad label enhancements
Advanced Ads 2.0 enhances ad labels by allowing overrides at the ad level and supporting basic HTML. This improvement lets you disregard global ad label settings for specific ads and customize wording, styling, or links.
New Tools page
Advanced Ads 2.0 introduces a dedicated Tools page that organizes technical tools and features in one place. This page includes import and export functions, allowing you to transfer ad configurations between websites and import pre-built ad setups from the Advanced Ads website.
The Tools page supports importing existing ads for users migrating from the Ad Inserter plugin, making the transition much more comfortable.
The Version Control tab lets you revert the base Advanced Ads plugin to previous versions, which can help troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Ads by hours
Our developer team added another popular item from our feature request list. The ability to allow ad delivery only for certain time slots complements the available time controls and will be an indispensable tool for publishers with age-restricted ad creatives and other use cases.
Many UI improvements
The refined user interface enhances the overall experience, making navigation more intuitive and managing ads more efficient.
New reactive notifications provide real-time updates on important events and changes. Additionally, the new “Used” column in the ad list shows at a glance which groups and placements an ad is assigned to, simplifying ad group management and setup optimization.
The redesigned dashboard offers a more straightforward overview in the backend. Its improved layout provides a better visual organization of ads and settings.
Advanced Ads 2.0 is just the beginning of the myriad of improvements we have planned for you—so stay tuned and get ready for the future of ad management!
This page will be updated when new information on Advanced Ads 2.0 becomes available.
